DAYTON, OHIO – MAY 7, 2019 - Young learners are invited to the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery and SunWatch Indian Village Summer Camps where all kinds of adventures are in store. Campers can become an archaeologist, or fancy themselves a biologist.
Among this summer’s camping options, youngsters can practice actual field research, experience the excitement of being a Discovery Zookeeper, become junior engineers, or invent their own fantasy worlds. They can earn scout badges, or even blast into space and become the first kid on the moon.
“These exciting Summer Camps challenge kids as they’re enjoying themselves. Learning can be fun, and they become totally engaged in the process. The Camps have been a big hit with the kids since we started them years ago,” said Museum Vice President of Education, Dawn Kirchner.
Choose from the traditional Weekday camp options or, new for this summer, STEAM Warriors Weekend camps! Camps begin June 3 and run through August 2. Families can select Week-long camps, or Single Day Camps.
Little Scientist Camps are great for kids ages 4-5 and 6-7, or try the Discovery Camps for ages 8-11. There is a Brownie and Girl Scout Camp, and Field Camps for kids aged 9-14.
In the Get Your Geek On session, campers will create their own costumes, others will catch creatures in our pond during Aquatic Biology, or catch a creature in Micro to Macro Biology. For the truly adventurous, there’s dissecting a squid in Zoology 101 (not for the squeamish!). Kids will also love creating their own water roller coasters in Do Lab Jr.
All camps are facilitated by our Education Staff science professionals. Camp assistants have also earned or are working toward their degrees in science or education.
Scholarships are available for all camps. Go to www.Boonshoftmuseum.org for more details about camps, scholarships, and to register.
