Our Bob Ross Auto Group Jazz & Beyond series returns with another great mix of familiar favorites and new faces from the region's jazz scene. The series celebrates 25 years of great jazz at the DAI in 2019!
The series takes place on select Thursdays throughout the year. Doors open at 5:00 p.m., and all performances take place 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the intimate setting of the museum's Shaw Gothic Cloister. A cash bar is available for drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and food is available for purchase at each concert.
Flautist, sculptor, band leader and teacher Michael Bashaw and his wife, Sandy, are the leaders of Puzzle of Light, a Dayton-based quintet that plays "American creative music."
Puzzle of Light is a group of musicians with individual musical backgrounds and experience ranging from jazz and rock to ethnic and world music. Their music is both technically exciting and emotionally deep, earning the quintet standing ovations everywhere. Puzzle of Light’s original and experimental music demonstrates their respect for nature, as well as world cultures, and thus they are sought-after by colleges, performing arts venues, nature centers and outdoor garden amphitheaters. Instrumentation includes Michael Bashaw on flutes, harmonica, vocals, and percussion; Sandy Bashaw on guitar and vocals; Richard Roll on bass; John Taylor on drums and Erich Reith on percussion.
